Project Description

The Bournemouth Oratory Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart was a project designed to adapt to the internal needs of the existing church building. This was required to make it accessible for everyone, including the construction of a new shop and café area. The project required significant structural adjustments to the toilet areas and floor level alterations. The structural remodelling relied on temporary works and support structures to hold up existing walls, then new openings were formed through old, thick and very solid walls. Raised floors were introduced to level the access which included external ramps and walkways constructed to make the area DDA compliant. All works had to be carried out sympathetically to this historical town centre property.
