Integrating with Local Communities slide

Community

Spetisbury pride themselves on integrating with local communities across the South Coast.

Spetisbury Construction have been active members of local and wider communities from the outset. The company established in 1984 places great value on its relationship with everyone from team members through to members of the public. Every project that the company is involved with provides us with opportunities to develop our links with that community.

Our involvement would include:

  • Support with charity events and fund raising.
  • Educational events and engagement with school and college communities.
  • Engagement with construction professionals and students giving opportunities to visit important sites.
  • Sponsorship of youth teams.
  • Environmental opportunities where we encourage good ecological activity.
  • Collaboration and work placements.
  • General community engagement.
  • Training of young people in trades and professional roles.

Architectural Site Visit

The education of future construction professionals is important and we are always interested in giving opportunities to students to visit our projects. The redevelopment of a landmark building in Bournemouth Town centre created an ideal opportunity to arrange such an event.

A day was set aside to welcome around 80 Architectural students to the project where our team was able to talk them through the process of the renovation, this was a great opportunity to highlight the unexpected nature of renovation and the processes that were adopted to repair the building.

Our construction teams are continuously operating within school environments and this creates an ideal opportunity to work with the school and engage with students. Engagement opportunities include promotion of careers within construction and related industries. We have forged really strong relationships with the team at Twynham Academy and our Finance Director takes time to speak to the students about careers in accounting.

The White Hart Development Opening

After the White Hart development was successfully completed it was then officially opened by The Mayor attending through The Thomas Hardy Society, The Civic Society and The Town Crier, Mr Alistair Chisholm. There was a good turn out of support for this landmark development in honour of the old White Hart pub with its historic links to the works of Thomas Hardy.

Sponsorship of Local Football Team

We are pleased to be involved with a variety of local youth teams and have supplied kit for various football and rugby teams. It’s great to have the opportunity to support young people in this way.

The completion of a project provides everyone with that moment to celebrate the finish of what can sometimes be a long journey. Construction projects can take years from the initial idea being shared with designers through the planning process and into construction. It is always great to celebrate the completion of a project with everyone that has been involved. We love to work with clients to make this an event that celebrates the achievements of the team and it is exciting to see the building being put to its intended use. The Kingston Maurward project is a great example.
